“Anchor”: five days to find your footing again

Short, body-based practices for the nights when your heart is racing and “just love yourself” doesn’t cut it. Do it from home, in your pyjamas, at your own pace.

3 a.m. You’re lying in bed. Your heart is pounding so hard you can hear it in the pillow. Your thoughts run in circles, and your body feels like it belongs to someone else.

You’ve already read that you should “just breathe,” “let go” and “love yourself.” It didn’t help. When anxiety is loud, advice doesn’t reach your head, because anxiety lives in the body. The help has to work through the body too.

“I need something that works right now.”

What this marathon is

It isn’t five random techniques. It’s a path from the moment the ground disappears under your feet to your first inner anchor. Each day gives you one practice you can do right here, right now: in pyjamas, at 11 p.m., with no month-long commitment.

How it differs from the usual advice

It works through the body

The practices physically engage the parasympathetic nervous system, the part that tells you “I’m safe.” You don’t have to talk yourself into anything.

Short, no preparation

Videos run about 15 minutes. You don’t need to “be in a good place,” set up a space or free up an evening. Just come as you are.

At your own pace

No deadlines and no sign-up for a month ahead. Open it when you need it and come back to the practices as often as you like.

No “pull yourself together.” No digging through the past. No having to explain what’s wrong with you.
Just one concrete thing you can do when it’s loud inside.

This is for you if

  • You wake at night with anxiety or a racing heart, even though “nothing happened”
  • “Just love yourself” makes you feel more irritated than relieved
  • You’re tired of looking “fine” outside while inside it’s empty, loud or numb
  • You’ve been through relationships or environments where you always had to stay on guard, and your body still remembers
  • You’d like to begin with something small that works, not a big programme

You’ll leave with

  • A first inner anchor: a simple practice you can return to in a hard moment
  • An understanding of why your body reacts this way. It isn’t weakness, and nothing is “wrong” with you
  • A set of short techniques for an anxious night, a panicky moment or inner noise
  • A sense that you have something to lean on, even when nobody is around

A bit about me

I’m Svetlana. I hold an MA in Psychology (HSE) and have 735 hours of training in existential-analytical counselling. I work with the effects of childhood trauma and of controlling groups and systems. I spent ten years in a closed religious group myself, so I know what it is like when the ground goes from under your feet. I built this marathon from what helped me and the people I work with get back on our feet.

The marathon is educational. It is not a substitute for medical or professional help. If you are struggling badly, please contact a professional or emergency services.
